We have had a wonderful experience this weekend at the home of Jackie Goulder. We were under the instruction of Carl Borgstrom from Sweden.
Once again our Ebony did what came natural too her, witnessed, this time by Bev Cope her proud breeder and with only a little encoragement from myself, Ebony worked well with Carl and gave a good display that she really enjoyed.
These photo's show that even at 7 months old and a dog that was bought for the purpose of being a show dog, can show control around the sheep and listen to the voice of a complete stranger. I think this proves she has developed the grey matter, mind we did watch Babe before we set off, so maybe a little of the 'ba ram u' might have been going on.

In this photo, Ebony has calmly and gently worked the sheep to hold them in a pen corner, waiting in total control for the next command.

Here showing come-bye, willing and wide whilst in a faster pace.

And back to come-bye.
These are the 2 flanking commands. Beardies rarely laydown on the stop control like Border Collies but a stand is enough to keep the sheep in the required place.
Through out the training, these sheep were never at risk from being stressed or hassled by over keen dogs because of the skill of the owner/trainers in a controlled situation.
Carl said in all the years he had been training Beardies, he had never wittnessed a Beardie biting a sheep.

On the 29.10.07, I decided to give Mac a 'go' with the flock, he, being a mummy's boy, I thought 'no way' but infact he did very well. He worked with me and I have to add that my confidence around the sheep is better and together we managed around 20 mins. Mac knew what was needed but considering he will be 9 next birthday, thought it was fun for me to come-by and away. He showed control, movement and basic instinct.
